ACHPER Victoria October 2020 – Game Sense Presentation
A big thank you to ACHPER Victoria for allowing me to be a part of their ‘Teachers in Action’ series this October. It is great to have an opportunity to learn with others in Australia and be part of some professional conversations around so many different topics. It has allowed me to think more deeply about Why I use Game Sense and to re-read some great resources and feel more fresh about this great model. This blog post is a place for me to share the resources I will be using for this presentation. Those attending or those who are looking for more information can find it here: Google document…

PhysEdSummit 5.0 Student voice, participation and leadership in schools
The physedagogy team have been hard at work and last weekend the PhysEdSummit 5.0 rolled out around the World. This initiative aims to provide quality Professional Development to PhysEd teachers anywhere you can get wifi with free online sessions that allowed you to either actively be involved during a session (ask your questions, share your experiences or take polls or share resources etc) or to go back and watch the sessions and contact presenters via a variety of social media avenues. The opportunity to get involved was very impressive and as we are scattered all over the place, the timezone changes meant that at any time, there was a good…

Monkey on my back
Snow Monkeys 16 by P.Fabian CC BY SA NC For many months now I have been mulling over some ideas that sit poorly with me. I feel like I am a bit of a fraud but to be honest but I think I am a little hard on myself as a teacher. I am at a cross-roads and need to address the monkey on my back. At APPEC I had the opportunity to go to a few different workshops or listen to key notes and I feel that through these I can better articulate what has been making me feel uncomfortable but allowed me to articulate this better for myself.…

APPEC – Why did the chicken cross the road?
Six Days Old by normanack CC BY Why did the chicken cross the road? This old riddle was the opening question posed to us by Dr Graham Dodd of ACHPER at the APPEC conference in Hong Kong in November. It through me a little, here is this incredibly knowledgeable man who has dedicated his life’s work to understanding the importance of Motion in Human Development and he begins by asking about chickens… what is going on here? What answer crosses your mind? Do you go for the same ‘to get to the other side?’ or do you have a different answer based on experience as a Chicken farmer? as a…

#Physedsummit 3.0 – Getting Ready!
Last year I was very excited to present at PhysedSummit 1.0 in October. It was a surreal experience to create an online presentation for others to be involved with and to chat to Matt Pomeroy as he carefully moderated my session for an hour late in the night. The PhysedSummit has grown and now in it’s third running, offers quality Physed Professional Development for free over a 24 hour period. All presenters were required to submit a proposal for their 1 hour session and the Physedagogy team have selected the presentations and have been closely working with presenters to ensure that the work offered is of the highest quality. You…

What tools do you use in #physed? Why?
My typical whiteboard after a class…. There has been a very healthy amount of discussion in #physed and #pegeek spaces about tools that the PE teacher should have or should be dribbling over in their attempt to be a more effective teacher and most of these tools are tech based. We seems that from now on, we will always have new technology and apps and other gadgets that can provide us with new opportunities to teach our students or to engage in new learning experiences. However, recently I had the opportunity to present at the ACHPER conference in Adelaide and I was very surprised to find that some of the…

#ACHPER15
motion gears team force by Ralph Bijker CC BY The annual conference for ACHPER15 was held in Adelaide, Australia this year in April. I made the trip to this conference for a variety of reasons, in no particular order: Rick Baldock and Shane Pill would be there and I learning a lot through my interactions with them online I wanted to present some of the work I have been doing and see how it resonated with other professionals in my field I was very excited to learn about best practice from the presenters and key note speakers to meet some of my twitter PLN in person and keep talking about…

Screencasting Presentation from #ACHPER15
untitled by Andrea Perez CC BY NC This post shares the Workshop notes and links that I gave at the ACHPER 2015 Annual Conference in Adelaide, Australia. When I go to conferences and into people’s workshops, the main focus for me is to try and take something away that I could implement with my classes or my own learning tomorrow. It might be something to use in a class, or in my planning to talk to my department about how we could use this but it boils down to Student Learning and how we can best improve and offer the best learning opportunities to our students. For my Workshop (45mins) the main themes…
